PPR carries a practical tradition — the mental-readiness training used to help pilots stay clear under pressure — into a simple guided app for modern life.
Where the method comes from
Flying fast jets is one of the most cognitively demanding tasks a person can do. Long before “mindfulness” became a consumer word, air forces were serious about the mental side of performance: how to stay calm, hold attention, and recover after intense load. In the Nordic tradition in particular, structured mental-readiness training grew up alongside physical and technical training.
PPR’s six-module course reflects that lineage — a progression from basic breath and body awareness, through emotional balance, into focused resilience for a specific challenge, and finally a simple anchor practice for stillness. The Swedish term historically used for this kind of work is psykisk beredskapsträning (“mental readiness training”); PPR is the modern, English-language expression of that idea, rebranded as Psychological Performance Resilience.
An honest note on the “Air Force” name
The name and the story describe the origin and inspiration of the practice. PPR is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the Swedish Air Force, any other air force, or any defence institution, and it uses no official insignia or protected course marks. Where we cite military sources — for example U.S. Navy and Air Force materials on tactical breathing — we do so as public references, not as claims of partnership.
What PPR is — and isn’t
PPR is a mental-training and wellbeing app: guided practice for calm, focus and recovery. It is not a medical device and not a treatment for any condition. The research we reference on the science page describes related practices and populations; it is scientific context, not a promise of results for any individual.
